Halloween Costumes

Halloween was fun and exciting... it just means that there were some fun fun fun projects to work on. Here is a few pictures of recent projects. First off... my husbands costume. He was the Mad Hatter from the new Alice in Wonderland movie.

We bought the hat, but made/altered everything else

They eyebrows were better for our other party but they worked

All you need to make a hat: ribbons, thread, hat pins

Don't forget the crazy socks and Brazilian shoes

The bow-tie was probably my favorite part to make

It certainly was fun to put together.

For myself, I was Alice... I didn't really get any good pictures taken though... sorry.

I also made matching poodle skirts for a family in Logan. 3 for the little girls and 1 for the mom.

It was hard because I couldn't do personal fittings, but the whole outfit turned out super cute.

My Portfolio (needing updating)

Before I begin I would like to apologize for not having any more recent photos to post. I am working on getting some photos from my last job. A lot of the photos you'll see here are not elaborate or anything. I need to get those photos still

This is my dear friend Erin. For her wedding I altered a cardigan she purchased and added a bustle.

For the cardigan alteration I needed to take in the shoulder seams (to tighten around shoulders) and shorten the length on the bottom
This is my father and my husband right before our reception. I made the ties for the fathers and brothers as well as my husbands vest and tie. I also hemmed his suit pants.
FOR MEN: I have a lot of experience in suitcoats, taking in/out the waist of pants, and fitting collared shirts

I was recently in a BYU Idaho production called "Life is a Dream". For this show we created/altered Elizabethan/Tudor costumes.
(Sorry I don't know how to rotate the pictures)

For the pink dress I added the trim to the dress and the cap.

This was my costume. I took in the underdress, added the waist trim on the underdress, created new sleeves for the overdress as well as took it in and created the neck and cuff ruffs.

Some more alterations....

These were mostly just minor alterations, but quite necessary. I did make some new pants for a few of us.
Believe it or not these are the same girls as in the picture above... Different order though
For this outfit I made the outer coat, the neck ruff and the leggins.

Please see above comments
This was my fuzzy project. The hair on this over coat was awfully messy to work with.

I made the over coat of this outfit, which included long dangling sleeves, and the neck cuff

For this outfit I made the Dickie (the white lace on the collar), the neck ruff, the basic shell of the bodice and the trim on the bodice and skirt.

For Halloween I helped create/organize these zombie costumes for me and my friends.

I also did the make-up.

My husband and I dancing as zombies.
These next few pictures are simply projects that are similar to ones I have worked on... I am still looking for the pictures of the ones I worked on. Sorry.

But enjoy!

Now we are getting into my beginning days of sewing, high school theatre...

Little Shop of Horrors
I made that dress for "Bye Bye Birdie" but made another appearance in it

That apron was so fun to make.

I altered the blue dress that I bought from Savers and I recovered the arm-sling to better suit my character
(Horrid wig, right?)
Seussical the Musical
That dress was fun to make. It had lace down the center front, a tulle underskirt and bloomers

Action shot... you'd have to know the story to understand

Guys and Dolls

Most of my dresses from this show had simple alterations. Nothing to crazy.
Bye Bye Birdie
"WHERE'S WALDO?"
I am in this picture talking on a pink phone in the dress that I wore in "Little Shop of Horrors" like I said above.

This is one of my dress I wore to a school dance. The whole outfit cost only $8 max. The dress was found at a garage sale, had some alterations and I decorated from there with my sisters great inspiration and help.
